Making a difference – One Individual at a time
Good luck, Millie
RGF grantee, Millie, commenced her three-year Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre at Bird College in September 2020. Earlier this year, Millie successfully applied to the RGF for a grant to assist her towards funding her final year of the Diploma.
Despite being very busy, Millie has found the time to update the RGF on her forthcoming schedule. Millie told us: “I am currently preparing for my Cre8 performance to be held at the Bird College Theatre 14th – 19th November 2022. Cre8 is a collaborative project where we have the choice of selecting either dance or musical theatre. We have the opportunity to formally invite agents. Agencies can come and experience a live performance by fellow students and I, in the hope of representing individuals professionally once we graduate.
Collectively, we produce a 30-40 minute performance. I have chosen a dance cre8 which is loosely inspired on the four seasons: Winter, Autumn, Spring and Summer. Each season represents a different characteristic. An additional character called the ‘other’ has been included which represents traumas and things we consider a fear. This all happens in a dream, so it has a non-naturalistic approach whilst still keeping it relevant to something we have all experienced.
Once finishing cre8 I will begin my agent showcase. This is a filmed 3-minute solo piece consisting of two 1-minute dance pieces and a 1-minute song. I have chosen to do jazz and contemporary dance pieces concluding with a song called Spotlight from Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. As a natural born Yorkshire girl, it only felt right!”
