Glen Takes on Thames ‘Source to Sea’ Challenge for the RGF and Tom Love Trust

Rob’s close friend and RFG Trustee, Glen Dobbs, is attempting to walk from the source of the River Thames (near Cirencester, Gloucestershire) to the mouth where it meets the North Sea in Grain, Kent, over 9 consecutive days.

The ‘Source to Sea’ journey will take him along the entirety of the Thames Path National Trail from the source of the river to just past the Thames Barrier in Woolwich, where it joins the English Coast Path to Grain.
An enthusiastic Glen told us: “I am expecting to walk around 230 miles over the course of the challenge, which I am doing on behalf of RGF and the Tom Love Trust. Rob was one of my best friends, and I have a very privileged position as a Trustee of the RGF. This allows me to see the great work it does in helping young people in Rob’s memory.”

Under the RGF’s first Aim, we support those with life-threatening illnesses. At the same time, the RGF also helps Aim 2 applicants who display exceptional commitment and/or ability in the worlds of sport or the performing arts but may be held back by their financial situation from pursuing their goals.
Donations will be split with another fantastic organisation, The Tom Love Trust, which was set up in loving memory of Tom Love, who tragically passed away in December 2022 at the age of just 21, whilst living and working in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Trust honours Tom’s passions and values by funding projects that he would have loved, supporting children and young people in deprived areas of the UK and Africa through projects in conjunction with the Angus Lawson Memorial Trust. The Trust was set up by Tom’s parents, Geoff (a colleague of Glen’s) and Debs Love, and Glen is looking to help them raise funds to support their amazing work.
Glen added “I am so grateful for any amount you are able to give, and I know the RGF and Tom Love Trust will be, too. Clicking on the link below will take you through the donation process.”
