Talented diver, Euan is based in Devon and his mum, Anna, got in touch with us recently to keep us updated on his progress, she said: “Euan is 14 and already a member of the Junior Great Britain team. His 2019 season was his finest to date, but more is expected in the future.
He currently competes in springboard and platform events as he has all the natural attributes to do well in the different disciplines, requiring very different training.
Euan had tried out for the England squad in October 2018 but was unsuccessful, however with determination he put together a series of dives from the 10-metre platform to compete at the British Senior National Cup in January 2019.
He was on a mission to prove the doubters wrong and he did just that – he qualified for the Men’s final (GB top 8) beating several more accomplished and more senior athletes along the way.
He became the Junior British Silver medallist and earnt qualification to the British Junior Team.
He went on to compete at a Junior International competition in Germany where he won Gold and went on to also win the 14/15 age title at the British Junior Championships.
At the Junior European Championships in Russia he was very close to winning but had to settle for Silver, behind the boy who went on to win the Senior European title as well.
A pretty impressive year which looks like continuing. Thanks to the Rob George Foundation, Euan was able to compete in a Senior International Grand Prix event in Singapore at the end of 2019, where he gained valuable competition and acclimatisation experience against adult divers.
Starting 2020 off well, Euan learnt the reverse three and a half somersaults from the 10m platform, one of the youngest boys ever and looked to be working well towards the Junior World Championships in December 2020…….
We all hope it won’t be too long before Euan is able to compete again. In the meantime, take a look at his very impressive video clip.
