There is nothing we like more than to hear from our ‘old’ grantees from previous years. So,we were chuffed to hear from Emily in response to our recent message that we had surpassed 1000 grants and that she intends to support the RGF in the future.
Emily shared with us: “Wow 1000 grants awarded by the RGF! When I saw the fantastic news, I thought I would check the website to read the stories of fellow grantees. To find my own you will have to go all the way back to page 13 and 2014! The foundation helped me to pursue a once in a lifetime experience of travelling across the world to Australia to compete in the age-group world duathlon championships when I was a student at Loughborough.
Seven years on, I am afraid to say that I do not have an Olympic medal to show you like I had dreamt of, but my love for sport, getting outside and challenging myself physically has never waned. Plus, I now work in sport too, as a researcher for an organisation (TASS) that supports talented athletes in education or work. I share Rob’s passion for encouraging young people in sport no matter their situation. This is why I am committed to supporting the RGF, in any way that I can, to continue their work supporting and inspiring young people to reach their goals – whatever they may be!”
We plan to work with Emily in the future and we will have more news on this in due course.
