How the sun shone on another glorious RGF six-a-side Cricket Day – We all enjoyed a wonderful day in sunny Castle Park, Colchester on Saturday 20 April. The cricket was very entertaining and there was a lovely atmosphere throughout the day, and it was great to see so many families and supporters enjoying the event. We welcomed two new teams, namely 2 Paras and Colchester Cavaliers and they were delightful company and played great cricket. The honours went to Shenfield who beat Colchester A in the final on pitch 1 and Sou’westers who beat Cavaliers on the pitch 2 final. Both games were well-contested and went to the last ball – we can’t ask for any more than that!
The umpires, as always, entered into the spirit of events and kept proceedings on time and scorer extraordinaire, Phil Wolski, gave it that professional touch, too.
Yet again David & Jackie Aldridge and Doug & Claire Cooper worked their magic on the BBQ and Victoria Fenner again orchestrated a fine raffle.
We are also very grateful to Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club for supporting the event, especially Jez Sadler the Groundsman and Donna who worked all day behind the very busy bar. Also, our thanks go to Trotters, John Coleman and Tesco (Colchester) for assisting with our catering needs throughout the day.
Rob’s “Be Happy” wish was very evident throughout the day!
