RGF supporter, Jen Skingsley, had an alternative present list when celebrating her 40th birthday recently – raising funds for the RGF.
As Jen explains: “In lieu of a 40th birthday party (which WILL happen later!!), I wanted to find a way to celebrate in lockdown and help raise some money for my favourite charity – the Rob George Foundation.
A virtual quiz seemed like the perfect answer – it is something many of my friends like doing anyway, and it would mean people could join from all over the country. I found a company that would run it for me (less stress on the night!) and decided to set a fundraising target that would match at least what I had spent. Well, what incredible friends and family I have! Over 80 people signed up and they completely smashed the target and kept going! I am amazed that, just over a week later, the total is over £822 with Gift Aid! Thank you so much to everyone who donated and helped make my second lockdown birthday so special. Now, where are my dancing shoes…?”
RGF Trustee, David Cant, said: “Jen has supported the RGF since day one and this was so typical of her to use her birthday party to raise both awareness of, and funds for, the RGF. It was a great evening and the total raised speaks for itself – amazing. Thank you, Jen, you’re a star!”
