The little matter of walking and/or running the 2021 Virtual London Marathon (26.2 miles just in case you don’t know!) was never going to faze Vix, Cassie and Naomi, and so it turned out. All three posted very impressive times and Vix competing on her own with some help from her friends has so far raised £1100 and Cassie and Naomi £553, both figures inclusive of gift aid.
On completing the marathon RGF stalwart, Vix, said, while still catching her breath: “It’s been the most amazing experience. I set myself a huge challenge, I trained hard and stayed focused and I can’t believe I’ve done it. I couldn’t be happier and thank you to all my friends who have supported me throughout and made donations for the RGF – it feels amazing, especially as I absolutely smashed my target time of 9 hours, finishing in 7 hours, 46 minutes!”
Cassie told us: “This was my first marathon, although I’m no stranger to endurance events, but this was special, as not only have Naomi and I completed the marathon, but it’s had a real focus and purpose and we’ve achieved something really tangible in raising funds for the RGF. We are thrilled and feeling so proud – thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way.”
RGF trustee, David Cant, said: “What an amazing achievement and it just goes to show how far preparation, sheer determination, drive and belief can take you. Vix, Cassie and Naomi are a credit to themselves and the RGF and what a difference they have made – they truly deserve their medals!”
