Drum roll please!
It is our very own long-term RGF supporter, Victoria Fenner (Vix to her friends!)
Vix has been a keen supporter of the RGF since we launched back in 2014.
To encourage 2 more participants to join Vix (we have 3 spaces), we thought we would ask her what has motivated her to participate and raise funds for the RGF.
Vix told us: “In 2007 I completed the Playtex Moonwalk. It was such an amazing experience and, when I heard about the Virtual London Marathon, I knew that it was for me. All I had to do was secure a place. When I heard that The Rob George Foundation, a charity I have supported since 2014, had secured three spaces I immediately asked if I could be considered for a place. This was granted and I am extremely pleased and very excited to have this opportunity to raise money for such an amazing charity.
The Rob George Foundation provides practical and/or financial support to young people with life threatening or terminal illness, and young people who demonstrate exceptional commitment and/or ability in the worlds of sport or the performing arts but may be held back by their financial situation from pursuing their goals. Please do take a look at their website to see just how many lives they have changed. They definitely are ‘making a difference – one individual at a time’.”
The Virtual Virgin London Marathon takes place on Sunday 3rd October and you will have a rather generous 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds to complete the 26.2 miles. As it is virtual, this is the most inclusive London Marathon ever and the significant difference with this event is that you can choose to run, jog, or walk this event so you do not have to be an experienced runner. You can choose your own route and maybe participate with friends and family, subject to whatever social distancing guidelines may apply at the time!
Interested? Please email – enquiries@therobgeorgefoundation.co.uk and register your interest and find out more information about the event. We would love to learn why you wish to support the RGF and any thoughts on how you would organise the event and how you would fundraise, and who you would involve – the more fun the better!
Entrants must be 18 or over on Sunday 3 October 2021
