The RGF supports talented Nottingham based swimmer, Heaven

The RGF has awarded Heaven a grant to support her personal development as she pursues her long-term goal to swim competitively, both nationally and internationally. 12-year-old Heaven is completely committed to her future sporting aspirations to be a successful swimmer.

Heaven’s base club is Nottingham Leander SC whom she still represents in local competitions. She trains with Nottingham Nova Centurion evenings and early mornings, both pool work and dry land training and already competes nationally.

Heaven’s swimming success throughout this competitive season is even more remarkable because in November 2018 she injured her ankle and was out of training and competition for several months.

Heaven’s strength of character and determination to return to full fitness really shone through and she demonstrated exceptional commitment to her recovery and rehabilitation. She returned to training and competition in early 2019 and went on to qualify for 9 events at the Regional Championships in the Spring achieved National rankings.

Heaven’s mum, Sonja, told the RGF: “Heaven has an energetic, enthusiastic and happy personality and embraces all the opportunities her swimming offers her. Her personal commitment and success in the pool alongside her caring supportive attitude to her swimming peers was recognised by her base club, when she was awarded the Davis Trophy (a trophy awarded to an individual who the coaches and committee members feel has made a significant contribution in all aspects of their early swimming career). The funding she has been granted by the RGF will enable her to continue to access quality training and development to help her achieve her aspirations in the pool. Heaven is incredibly grateful and wishes to thank the RGF for their amazing support.”
