Initially, GB Triathlete, Mia, successfully approached the RGF in April 2020 fora grant towards funding her participation at the European Cup in France. Mia approached the RGF again in September 2022 to fund further participation at international elite events.
Mia has been in touch to share her story and her progress. She told us: “I am currently a student studying Osteopathy and competing in Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons. In my younger days I competed as a gymnast. Fast forward, when I started university in Bath, I wanted to find a new passion in sport. So, I joined the triathlon club and quickly caught the bug for the sport and since have raced all around the world.
“I thrive on racing and training and had no idea where triathlon would take me when I started 6 years ago. In my first year racing I qualified for the AG World Championships and finished 8th in Lausanne at the AG World Championships. I am now racing in the British elite super series and French D2 triathlon series. My best result saw me finish in the top 10 Senior women in 2021 at Mallory Park, and overall, in the top 20 in the series. In 2021 I also became the AG English Champion!
“I am currently focusing on building my strength and working on my nutrition throughout the winter before next season starts in the Spring. My goals next season are set on a top 10 finish in the French D2 grand prix and beyond that who knows?!
“What I do know, is that The Rob George Foundation has made a huge difference to my development as an athlete and with their support I am able to train to my full potential and work hard to achieve my goals in triathlon.”
All the very best for 2023, Mia
