Imagine…
Trampolinist, Zak, approached the RGF back in 2014 and we were delighted when he contacted us recently with a comprehensive update.
Zak told us: “My journey recently has been incredibly exciting. I made my senior debut for Great Britain at the Senior World Championships in Baku in 2021 where I managed to place 9th, just missing the final but being my first appearance at this level, I was speechless! We also achieved a team bronze medal in the all-around team event which was very good.
“In 2022 I had made the senior top squad and was selected to represent Great Britain at the senior events again, notably the European Championships in Italy where I managed to make the semi-final and we also won a men’s team bronze.
“Mid-year, 2022, I was selected for my first World Cup in Portugal where I achieved 5th place in the final. For my first World Cup I was so chuffed. At the end of year, I was selected for the Senior World Championships in Sofia (Bulgaria). Unfortunately, I did not complete any routines individually, but it was a massive learning experience. We managed to win the all-around team final, and we became World Champions.
“2023 sees the beginning of the Olympic cycle, commencing in June and there are competitions all the way through until June 2024. Then I will discover if I have been selected for the Olympics!
“I just want to say a massive thank you to the RGF. I would not be in the position I am in right now if it were not for their help back in 2014. The RGF enabled me to attend my first Junior World Championships. Since then, my career has taken off, and so much of this is through the RGF believing in me.”
