Imagine…
Trampolinist, Sophie, competes at Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) and Synchro Trampoline. She is in the England squad for DMT and is profiled for the British trampoline squad.
Her mum, Kat, has been in touch to update us on her progress: “Sophie has certainly been busy. In April she won bronze at the English qualifier 1 in Gillingham in the trampoline gold youth category.
“In May she was selected for the England squad to compete at the Frivolten Cup in Sweden (her first international) and qualified through to the finals in first place. Sadly, she was injured for the final so could not perform her more difficult pass to win. The RGF supported her attendance at this event.
“In June she qualified in trampoline, DMT and Synchro for the British Championships in Birmingham in September- I think she is the only 11-year-old girl to qualify in all 3! She competes in the youth category (10-12) so at 11 has done amazingly well against older girls. She also got a silver medal in DMT at the English qualifier 2 in Telford again in the gold youth category.
“In July she competed in Telford at the English Gold Championships and became English champion in the youth category, a massive achievement at 11. She also got Bronze on the same day in DMT. She is now preparing for the British Championships in September in Birmingham.
“The support from the RGF has been fantastic. There is no other support available for her other than parent funding, so when she was selected to represent England, we were genuinely worried how we could support her financially. When the RGF agreed to support Sophie, it was the most amazing feeling enabling her to join her teammates and compete – thank you RGF!”
