Imagine…
16-year-old Tom, from Worcestershire, successfully applied to the RGF for a grant to assist with the purchase of his own pole vault pole. Tom’s mum, Mel, said: “Previously, Tom had to make do with borrowing a 30-year-old pole. Tom’s new pole means he will be able to safely train & compete in Decathlon events pursuing his ambition to represent England at athletics. Tom and our family are extremely grateful for the support from the RGF.”
Tom competes in combined track & field events and the triple jump. Tom has recently been selected for the England Athletics Youth Talent Programme. He came 4th in the U17 England Indoor Championships in triple jump this February. He won Gold at the Hereford & Worcestershire Schools Combined Events, won Bronze at the Regional Schools Combined Events and qualified for the English Schools National Championships finishing 21st. He also qualified for the English Schools National Track & Field Championships in triple jump.
