RGF offers heartfelt thanks to Colchester Round Table 367 (CRT 367) for supporting us on one of their Santa’s Sleigh Christmas collection nights – we were thrilled when CRT 367 approached us to take part in this annual event. Our allocated collection sleigh ride was 17 December, with the help of RGF supporters Julie Cant, Suzanne Revett, Victoria Fenner, Jennie Skingsley and Michael Neville who went about the task with great enthusiasm, giving up a large part of their evening to support the Rob George Foundation – (thank you Team RGF Santa’s Sleigh!). We never take for granted the valuable contributions our friends and supporters make towards raising much-needed funds and also our profile. It was clear that the organisers were chuffed seeing six of us rock up to help them. Fortunately, the weather was kind to us and we were all quite amazed by the warm reception we received from the good folk of Prettygate & Shrub End. The Santa’s Sleigh collection takes place over several evenings with the chosen charity for each evening receiving 50% of the money raised on the night. The CRT 367 use the remaining 50% to support other good causes.
Fast forward to 28 February and the CRT 367 Charity Race Night where it was announced that the 2018 Santa’s Sleigh collection in total had raised £4723, of which the RGF received a very impressive £301.39. The accompanying photo shows Lorraine and Philip with the main cheque showing the total raised, along with Cyril Thomas from CRT 367.
We’d like to say a big thank you to CRT 367 for thinking of us and to all the lovely people we met on our travels around Prettygate and Shrub End for your kind generosity in supporting the RGF.
