Heaven shared with us: “I would like to thank the Rob George Foundation for their amazing support and share an update on how I have been maintaining my training & fitness to be fully prepared for getting back into the pool.
I achieved British & Home Nations Qualifying times as an age group swimmer in several events to be staged this summer, but the championships were cancelled due to Covid 19. So, there has been a new and unexpected challenge to maintain my fitness out of the pool. I have worked hard and enjoyed lots of activities, including cycling, running, land training and, most of all, open water swimming!
I have been open water swimming several times each week and have come to really enjoy it, even when it has been cold, raining, and windy. For me it has been a whole new experience. It does not replace my love of the pool and I cannot wait to be back in training with my coaches and squad very soon.
The positive and generous support given to me by the RGF has encouraged & motivated me to look forward to the future, feel excited about returning to pool training & competing in the swimming championships yet to come.
I want to say a very BIG thank you to the RGF!
During these testing times, Heaven has taken the opportunity to do some fundraising for the RGF. Just the small matter of completing a sponsored open water ‘marathon’ swim – that is a remarkable 26 miles over 5 days!
Heaven’s mother Sonja told us: “As Heaven’s mother I want to thank you again for the support you have given to her during this testing time, away from normal pool training, more than ever it has meant so much that the RGF ‘believed in her’ to offer their support to her to pursue her swimming goals, success & sporting dreams. She was incredibly disappointed to not have the opportunity to compete in the British championships that she had trained so hard to qualify for. She is so excited & happy to be back in the pool training very soon!
Heaven – you are a star. Thanks for the staggering effort you have made in raising funds for the RGF and we wish you every success when you finally return to the pool.
