The RGF recently supported Chloe Dickson, helping to equip her for the current season. We wanted to share with you how proud we feel to have played a small part in Chloe’s recent success at the Senior Scottish Open 2015, which was held in Edinburgh in January.
On the Saturday, Chloe fenced in her chosen weapon Foil, fenced in 11 Poule fights to 5, and won them all only dropping 7 hits all day. This set her up in first place for the “Direct Elimination Rounds” which are to 15 hits over 9 minutes. The first few rounds went well and then in the semi-final and final Chloe was up against two Edinburgh fencing club mates. In the semi she beat Katie Smith 15-12 and in the final beat Victoria Duxbury, who joined the team from Ireland, 15-2.
So a very happy Chloe is now the Scottish Open Womans Foil Champion 2015.
On the Sunday Chloe then fenced in the Woman’s Sabre. It’s not her main weapon, only competing with it twice a year, so she was pretty surprised to be seeded first after the Poules. Having got to the final Chloe then lost 15-11. However, a terrific result to go home with her silver and gold medals and a Cup for a year.
Chloe is off to Zagreb at the end of January in an attempt to qualify for the Junior World Championships, and she’ll then be training hard up to the summer for the Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships in South Africa.
We all wish Chloe all the best for the season.
