Followers of the RGF will recall that Adam and Emily, like so many others, postponed their wedding planned for this year and now plan to get married in May 2021.
Adam said at the time: “Whilst we are disappointed, we know that everyone has been impacted in some way by the virus and for many, more so than ourselves. Therefore, we have decided to turn the current situation into something positive and have created a fundraising relay route for us to complete, from Offley Place in Hitchin (our wedding venue) through most of the UK locations, from which our guests will be travelling from – a distance totalling 1,359km.”
We’re pleased to report that Adam and Emily have been back in touch and told us: “We have successfully managed to complete our 1,359km walking, cycling and running virtual relay challenge in our target time frame of two months, injury-free we hasten to add, and due to the amazing sponsorship support from our family and friends we managed to raise £550 each for the RGF and St Matthews Nursing Home in Northampton, our two chosen charities.”
Adam was a mate of Rob’s and they went to Loughborough University together and he and Emily were determined to make a difference and support their chosen charities to raise some much-needed funds.
Rob’s dad and chairman of the RGF, Philip George, commented: “This was such a phenomenal physical challenge and we’re delighted that Adam & Emily completed it safely and in so doing raised funds for the RGF and St Matthews Nursing Home at a time when fundraising is so tough. An extra special thanks to Adam and Emily and all their family and friends for such a magnificent effort.”
We all wish Adam & Emily every happiness in their future together!
