RGF grantee, Brioni, performs at the Royal Albert Hall

Flautist, Brioni, performed at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 7th August with the National Youth Orchestra, live on BBC TV.

Here is what she had to say about her experience: “It was absolutely fantastic to be able to perform at the BBC proms this year with NYO. A dream come true and something I feel very blessed to have been a part of. Prom 10, was also called Hope Exchange, reflecting hope, courage, and strength in the selections of music, overcoming the difficulties of adversity people have endured during the pandemic.

One piece we performed was Laura Jurd’s new commission ‘Chant’ which included a mix of improvisation and kazoo playing. I enjoyed this piece as it was something completely new and exciting and we got the chance to experiment with what we liked as players. This communication made the piece more personal to us as we developed it together from a score to a concert. As much as I loved the rest of the programme, this piece has such a creative element that I found it represented the Hope Exchange in an incredible way.

It was an evening I shall never forget! I simply loved it!”
