Cancer, costs and course work

Grant awarded on 23rd January 2014

Imagine…

You are 21 years old and in your final year of Uni.  As a young man you know when things aren’t right, but a diagnosis of testicular cancer was never on your agenda!  Your final year is written off by surgery and chemo but your overwhelming hope and plan is to return to repeat – and complete – your last year and get your degree.  You have signed a lease for your flat, on which the rent is still payable even though all your money is being eaten up travelling for treatment, which is not in your home town.  You would also like to keep the same flat for your final year, as of course, there is no time or energy for moving.

Your support has made a difference…

The RGF has been able to help with rent over the summer so that this young man can feel secure in the knowledge that he has accommodation for his final year and make it to the point where his student loan kicks back in.  We are all looking forward to seeing the graduation photo in the summer of 2015.
